Rodeo

Through my photography, I have learned that I am drawn to situations that change the way people act on a daily basis. I guess this is why I was drawn to start shooting rodeos. For the short time the riders are on the bull, everything else goes away, there is no prejudice, there is no world, there is only the rider and the bull. For most riders, this is a way of life, how they provide for themselves and their families. I hope to show this commitment in my work. I show close up insights into their world, letting their eyes tell a story, and I also pull back, letting large negative spaces full of sky and clouds speak about the peace that comes to these people from this sport.
